Mianne  is a graduate of Columbia College of Chicago where she studied fiction  writing and poetry. At Columbia Mianne was the Black Student Union  President, a Resident's Assistant, a Fiction Student Union Senator and  won a Campus Life Award. Prior to that she attended Wayne State  University where she studied African, Urban and Women's Studies,  Psychology, Business and Sociology courses. Mianne also attended Wayne  County Community College and participated in programs such as the  Student Leadership Forum at Ferris State University thru Wayne County  Community College.

Since  her first violin class at the age of three, Mianne Adufutse has been  motivated by the arts. At a mere nine years old Mianne developed a  strong love and passion for books and writing. At Burton  Elementary School Mianne's interest in writing was encouraged and at  Cass Technical High School her skills were honed in a Creative Writing  Class and Club.

Were  it not for excellent and encouraging teachers in the Detroit Public  School System and her parents who fostered her love of literature,  Mianne would probably not be a writer today. This is why Mianne feels it  is vitally important to keep art in public schools as well as qualified  teachers who take their profession seriously.

Mianne is half Ghanian and half Black American and enjoys reading and writing about numerous issues pertaining to the Black diaspora and is the founder of Mi Books.
